About Me

Hey there, I’m Gia Picarella! I am currently studying at LSU and anticipate graduating in May 2027. On top of school, I am employed as a sports reporter for LSU's student broadcasting, Tiger TV, and produce "Let's Geaux Fishin with Kevin Ford" at Guaranty Media. During the summer I was temporarily employed as a Sales Assistant for Guaranty Media as well. Diving into the commercial and production side of radio was very interesting, and I definitely enjoyed the new skills I learned in both positions.

If you cannot tell, I love being busy. Coming from a large Italian family, I thrive in the whirlwind of organized chaos that surrounds me; similar to the energy found in a newsroom or a radio station. Not only do I thrive in organized chaos, I enjoy it; it is one of the reasons I fell in love with broadcast journalism in high school. As far as why I chose sports journalism, I have my father and brothers to thank for that. No matter what sport was in season, best believe it was on the living room TV. Their delight in the game and love or hate for certain players rubbed off on me.  Whether I’m interviewing athletes, analyzing game strategies, or editing a compelling package, my passion shines through in every piece I produce.

One of my favorite things about journalism? Getting dolled up to hit the field, camera-ready. I firmly believe looking the part is just as important as delivering the news.
